12 Month Wedding Skincare Tips

Wedding Skincare

The fun of planning a wedding also comes with a lot of stress, and for every afternoon spent cake tasting, there are a few hours of agonizing over where to seat your fiancé’s crazy aunt.

Stress and skin problems tend to go hand-in-hand, but with the right approach and plenty of time, you can have perfectly glowing skin for your wedding day!

Twelve months to go: Have an initial consultation with your dermatologist to determine what skin issues you want to treat and to create a game plan for treatment; continue seeing your dermatologist regularly until the wedding. Long-term treatments need time to work, so allow time in your plan for adjustments. Since you have plenty of time until your wedding, form basic skincare habits now, such as washing your face twice a day.

Six months to go: Continue your skincare regimen and avoid flipping between products- consistency is key. Keep the stress at bay by taking a relaxing yoga class.

Three months to go: Stay consistent with your skincare, and add a professional body treatment like a body thermal mask or an exfoliating scrub. Test out different self-tanners and spray tans to get a healthy glow on your wedding day without damaging your skin.

One month to go: Get a brightening facial with extractions to amp up your glow, and schedule your makeup trial to find your perfect colors.

One week to go: Stay vigilant about applying sunscreen, and get your spray tan one week before. Get 7-8 hours of sleep per night, and drink water throughout the day.

One day to go: Use a hydration mask for flawless photos, and continue to stay hydrated. Eat antioxidant-rich foods like blueberries, leafy greens, and proteins, and go to bed early in case you have a hard time falling asleep.

The Big Day: Your day-of makeup should include: mascara, brow filler, and under eye brightener to make you look wide awake; lip shine for photos; facial shine control and setting powder for an airbrushed effect; foundation that matches your skin tone and décolleté; and setting spray to make everything last.

No matter what, your skin will look beautiful on your wedding day if you have a huge smile on your face. Enjoy your celebration, and you’ll have a completely natural glow!
