7 Common Mistakes in Honeymoon Organization

Common Mistakes in Honeymoon Organization

The long anticipated moment of your life known as your wedding is slowly but surely coming your way. And you probably feel more excited than you have ever been before in your life. It is normal to feel that way. Because, after the wedding, there comes another amazing event for you – the honeymoon. And it is no less important than the wedding itself, so you wouldn’t want anything to go wrong, would you? Of course you wouldn’t. So here are some of the most common mistakes people do when planning for their honeymoons and how to avoid them.

1. Not Starting To Plan Early Enough?

Biggest mistake of them all. Sure, we are all busy and have many things on our minds but, come on! This is not a trip to the cinema to be leaving all preparations for the last moment. Planning early on will not only save you a serious amount of money, but can also prevent many other problems that could occur. Remember that procrastinating is not the key and that it is never too early to start planning.

2. Not Going To A Honeymoon?

This goes without saying, it would be mighty foolish of you not to indulge in a couple of days of complete bliss with your beloved one. For, after the honeymoon there comes the mundanity of everyday life and the week or so you spend on your honeymoon will be one of the best and most careless days of your life.

3. Not Setting A Budget For The Honeymoon?

This is when things could get a bit out of hand in terms of money. Even if you set the destination, while you are enjoying yourselves on your honeymoon, situations like : “a couple of dollars here and a couple of dollars there” could occur as much as a couple of times a day. And the worst thing that could happen is for you to have an unlimited credit card. Make sure you decide the amount of money you are allowed to spend prior to departure. This doesn’t mean that you have to save as much as possible, just not to waste as much as you can.

4. Not Planning Together

A no brainer, but still. Everybody knows that this is a moment for you to share, rather than to enjoy it yourself. Try not to be over-imposing with your opinions and preferences. Also, refrain from surprises like : “Honey, you will never guess the destination I chose for our honeymoon! And I already booked the hotel!” No. What if your choice does not appeal to your future spouse? You will just have to sit down and talk discuss until you reach a consensus.

5. Not Considering An ‘Off-Season’ Travel?

Sure, you will go wherever you want to go but why go when everybody else is there too? Going off season has two advantages – less people and lower rates. Its a win-win situation, right? Not only will you save some money, but you also won’t have to deal with endless crowds (fully booked spas, long waits at restaurants, etc.).

6. Packing Too Much?

Usually, a ‘normal’ honeymoon lasts around a week. Pack accordingly. The lighter, the better. After all, you are bound to come back with at least one additional suitcase, filled with various things bought from your honeymoon destination. However, you also shouldn’t pack too light. Watch the weather forecast so that you are informed how many and exactly what pieces of clothing to pack.

7. Not Being Informed About Your Destination?

Unless you will be spending time only within the boundaries of your hotel, you will have to go online a learn a thing or two about the place. Not only about which the best restaurants and bars are, but also what cultural sights there are. It is bound to have some that are worth seeing.
