Christmas, birthdays and wedding anniversaries are supposed to be times when people can really enjoy themselves and forget about their worries for a day or two. However, if money is in short supply and you are fretting about the cost of buying a present for your partner, you are unlikely to enjoy such occasions. I have written this short guide to finding affordable gifts for her so that even if you have a very small amount of money in your bank account, you will be able to treat your wife without getting into financial difficulties.
1. Charity Shops
There is usually at least one in every town of a reasonable size and they can be great places to find inexpensive presents for people of either gender. The prices tend to be much lower than those in other retail outlets, principally because they deal almost exclusively in second hand goods. Whilst this means that you should be able to afford something nice, not everybody is happy to give second hand items as gifts so this is something that you will have to think about beforehand.
2. Online Retailers
The efficient business model that most Internet retailers follow means that they are able to sell attractive gifts at very affordable prices. Furthermore, because they offer competitive delivery services too, you will not even have to leave your home to buy your partner a present. Some people are worried about their personal data being stolen when shopping online but as long as you follow a few simple rules for using credit cards online, this should not be a problem that you are likely to encounter. The most basic rule that all online shoppers should follow is to make sure that the sites they use are secure, i.e. the URL on the checkout page should start with “https://” rather than just “http://”.
3. Make Something At Home
This might be an unappealing option if you are not very good with your hands but for those of an artistic bent, it is well worth considering. Whether you paint a picture of your partner, weave her an attractive wicker basket or make something more practical that she can use every day, your wife is sure to appreciate the thought and effort that you have put into your gift. Even better, you will not have to spend a great deal of money in order to let her know just how much you care.
4. Club Together With Others
This is probably not a good idea if you are buying a birthday present for your partner but if you would like to organise a fun day out for your wedding anniversary, there is nothing wrong in clubbing together with close friends to fund the trip. A cruise along a local river, a day at a beauty spa, or perhaps a horse riding expedition followed by a picnic in the country, are all ideas that you might like to consider for such an occasion. The main thing to bear in mind is that as long as your partner enjoys herself, the effort that goes into arranging a fun day out will have been well worthwhile.
I am sure that you can think of more ideas that do not cost a lot of money and that your wife will appreciate but for those who are having trouble thinking of anything that is not too expensive; the above suggestions are a good place to start. Once you have made your choice, you can look forward to the day itself without having to worry about how much it is all costing and how you will afford it.
