The truth is that men look forward to their big day as much as women do, with new studies indicating that marriage is definitely on a man’s brain when he enters a romantic relationship. If your celebration is taking place in a few months, keeping it stylish and sophisticated is a good idea, so you can cherish your wedding photographs in years to come – but that doesn’t mean you have to be boring or typical. Take your cue from these tips for top wedding accessories for grooms and their best men/groomsmen.

1. Designer Cufflinks

Most men opt for a traditional look when it comes to wedding suits, with the ultimate day look still comprising a tailcoat, tie, and matching plain grey or striped pants. One thing that can definitely set you apart and make a nice subject for photographs are designer cufflinks. Brands like Louis Vuitton or Cartier are showing how cool cufflinks can be, and the extent to which they can express a groom’s love for fashion. If you are opting for a light suit, engraved white mother of pearl cufflinks can work beautifully, but you can, instead, complement the colors of your corsage with cufflinks in green, or red. Many brands also offer themed cufflinks, in designs inspired on the planets, animals, or sports. Matching cufflinks make a great ‘thank you’ gift for your groomsmen as well so if you have the budget for it, ensure your entourage is coordinated in this respect.

2. Rings with a Twist

It is understandable that many fashionable men and women wish to rebel against the traditional plain gold or white gold wedding band. Make your ring bold and beautiful by opting for a blend of materials. Rings these days are jazzed up with everything from diamonds to bright green malachite, or stunning sand inlays, which add a delicate multicolored look to an otherwise ‘serious’ band. Feel free to wear a ring that bears a different style to that of your bride; this decision is symbolic of the independence that can be celebrated even when one is part of a couple.

3. Investing in a Designer Watch

A good watch makes a big impression at meetings with clients and even with colleagues in your industry, so if you’re planning on buying one soon, make sure to do so in time for your wedding. In some countries in Europe (such as Spain), the future bride often gives her groom a watch as a future wedding gift. Mention this to your bride and see if she thinks it’s as good an idea as you do!

4. Express Yourself

Find ways that you can express your taste and love for fashion. Brightly printed socks make a great accessory that easily be adopted by all members of the groom’s party. Salvatore Ferragamo, known for its artistic, bright ties, make gorgeous socks with subtle prints that suit a dark looking suit to perfection.

Accessories are one of the most interesting ways to reveal your personality, even if you opt for a traditional suit. In addition to ensuring your suit is bespoke and in the right cut and style for the season, take your time and research into designer accessories for you and your best friends. A vintage corsage, different eyeglass frames, or swish hairstyle can really make a difference and show the extent to which style is an individual matter, always.

The Rise in Pre-Marriage Cosmetic Treatments https://chicmags.com/rise-pre-marriage-cosmetic-treatments/ Wed, 05 Sep 2012 16:35:46 +0000 http://www.chicmags.com/you-may-now-kiss-the-botoxed-bride-the-rise-in-pre-marriage-cosmetic-treatments Just How Many are Saying ‘I Do’?

Everyone wants their Big Day to be perfect; the perfect venue, the perfect flowers, the perfect dress… but what about the perfect body? More and more women are choosing to undergo ‘bridalplasty’ to ensure they look their absolute best for their wedding photos, whether that be non-surgical options such as Botox to full on face lifts to attain perfection for the big day.

Botoxed Bride

Brides!

The wedding season is fast becoming the busiest time in any cosmetic surgeon’s calendar, with Botox and facial fillers popular among younger brides, face and neck lifts common among the older bride, and tummy tucks and liposuction practically a bridal must!

It seems like there’s nothing quite like getting engaged to make a woman notice her flaws. After all, it’s scientific fact that a rock on the finger makes tiny lines around the eyes turn into giant craters and perky boobs change into sagging sandbags, right?

Not surprisingly, some of the most common bridalplasty procedures are the famous boob job and the good old nip tuck. Most brides lose weight before their weddings, either intentionally or not, which can leave them with extra skin and not enough up top to fill out that fairytale dress.

Such was the case for Linsey Ray, who made headlines earlier in the year for forgoing her honeymoon so she could fund her bridalplasty which actually matched the cost of her entire wedding!

The reaction to bridalplasty has been very mixed. While cosmetic surgeons support the hoards of women wanting to change their appearance before their weddings (of course they do, they’re getting paid!) a TV show, aired in 2010, that turned pre-wedding surgery into a trivial game show was met with terrible reviews, being deemed “depressing”, “creepy” and “offensive”.

Grooms!

Of course, they may not admit it, but men want to look great for their weddings, too! However, grooms don’t tend to go to the same lengths as their fiancees, with Botox being the most common pre-wedding procedure for men. Cosmetic surgery among men is on the rise and is becoming more and more accepted by society (yes, even disturbingly large pec implants are the norm now) possibly thanks to A-list celebrities coming out and saying ‘yes, I’ve had it done!’.

While some grooms do take a more subtle approach to pre-wedding surgery, others push the boat out. Chinese groom, Feng Lu underwent eyelid surgery ahead of his 2012 wedding to make him look similar to his blushing bride. Couples who resemble one another are alleged to have longer and happier marriages, according to rather strange Chinese tradition.

Guests?

Some guests just can’t let the bride take the spotlight! Mothers of the grooms, bridesmaids, even the girl you haven’t seen since school might go to extreme lengths to look great on the photos. Some brides even treat their wedding party to a few fillers here and there.

Possibly the most famous case to plaster the media recently has been scary Kardashian matriarch, Kris Jenner, who made no secret of wanting to look fresh faced for daughter Kim’s wedding, even going as far as to document the procedure on her reality show. The marriage lasted just 72 days, so there’s money well spent.
